BRIGHT FUTURES

The students and staff at Westholme School were celebrating recently following impressive exam results

Students and staff at Westholme School were delighted to receive another set of superb examination results this year.

At A Level, a 100 per cent pass rate across all 24 subjects was celebrated while nearly a quarter of all grades were at A*-A. Over half were A*-B – truly impressive statistics considering that examination papers this year were particularly challenging.

Headteacher Mrs Horner was delighted to praise students and staff alike for their hard work: “The results achieved by our students are testament to their diligence and aspirations. I am extremely proud of our Upper Sixth Formers.

Their excellent grades mark the culmination of two years’ study providing a positive pathway to a bright future, whether at university or in the workplace. It is always hugely rewarding to share our students’ success across a diverse range of subjects and careers, from law to engineering, fashion to business management. It is a joy to see these young men and women embark upon the next chapter in their lives beyond Westholme.”

Just one week later, the GCSE results story followed a similar pattern.

Amidst another year of huge national GCSE reform, Mrs Horner was very pleased with the results at Westholme: “The new grading of 9-1 is awarded now in all but a handful of subjects, and I am proud of our Year 11s and their results. GCSEs are the essential career passport for young people and I am delighted with the achievements of our students, especially in the light of examination changes.”

“With over 45 per cent of grades achieved at grades 9-7 or A*-A it is clear that our students have worked very hard, fulfilling their academic goals. I commend the dedication of my teachers too who have worked through the substantial exam changes with their customary professionalism.”

“The Westholme Year 11 Class of 2018 have impressed throughout having also excelled in performing arts, sport and broader school opportunities. They are energetic and ambitious young people ready for the next step in their educational journey. I commend their diligent efforts and thank parents for their support throughout.”

The future is certainly bright at Westholme!
