Blackpool

for Business and Pleasure

Blackpool is fast becoming a place which is not only popular with tourists and visitors, but with businesses, writes Tracy Hargreaves

A new marketing initiative has been launched this year which positions the Blackpool area as a leading location for business investment in the UK.

The launch of ‘Blackpool: The Place for Business’ marked the beginning of a digital campaign which will celebrate the town’s business strengths and regeneration successes. The project aims to leverage the online support of the local business community to put Blackpool on the global stage for business investment.

The initiative is backed by numerous high-profile supporters from both the business community and public sector bodies, such as Cllr Mark Smith, Cabinet Member for Business, Enterprise and Job Creation.

“When people think of Blackpool, they often picture tourism. What they don’t see are the impacts of our £1bn Growth and Prosperity Programme which includes our leading Enterprise Zones which house world-class businesses, our first rate upgraded Winter Gardens conference centre, our transformed town centre offices and the fact that Blackpool will be the first town to roll out 5G networks for digital start-ups,” said Nick Smillie.

“The Blackpool area provides investing companies with direct access to UK-leading industry clusters, high-quality property and site solutions and a large-scale, skilled workforce,” he added.

Over the last few months Blackpool has seen a number of new initiatives including The Enterprise Zone, a 144-hectare site that includes Blackpool Airport, Blackpool Retail Park and Blackpool Business Park, all of which are attracting new custom into the town.

But for those who visit for pleasure, there is also plenty to see and do.

Blackpool is a great place for shopping. The Houndshill Shopping Centre is an undercover shopping centre featuring more than 70 retailers and a multi storey car park. St John’s Square is the pedestrianised area outside the Winter Gardens, a great place for theatre, music and shows. Here, there are pavement cafes, restaurants and an open performance space, where you’ll often find events and entertainment and of course, a trip wouldn’t be complete without a walk down the promenade on the seafront which is lined with attractions that we all love, such as the Sea Life Centre, Madame Tussauds and Blackpool Tower, along with an array of gift and souvenir shops.

Blackpool also has accommodation to suit everyone. From quaint bed and breakfasts, self-catering apartments to luxury hotels. Whatever your visit to Blackpool, it will be sure not to disappoint.
