Since appearing as Picture House Artist of the Month in 2014, Chris Cyprus’s popularity has soared
Chris Cyprus’s obvious love of northern life really shines through in all his paintings and his ability to create magic from often quite mundane scenes really resonates with his many collectors.
Chris has just finished a 10 year project to capture our northern towns in the glow of sodium street lighting before many of them change over to new LED lighting. For these works, he found his inspiration just as daylight faded and street lights flickered on, creating a magical moment.
“This perfect brief meeting illuminates a busy mundane world and transforms into something beautiful,” says Chris. “The landscape comes alive just before going to sleep.”
The culmination of this work is a book ‘Northern Lights’ which comes in a presentation box and with a signed limited edition print created especially for the book.
After appearing on The One Show in November 2017, Chris’s work quickly sold out at Picture House, and the gallery has been pleased to send Chris’s work throughout the UK, Europe and even to the USA.
Although Chris’s ‘Northern Lights’ paintings were a huge success, his new originals are proving to be just as appealing. Picture House Gallery are delighted to be hosting another ‘Artist of the Month’ exhibition with Chris, running from 14th April until 12th May.
As well as new paintings and possibly the very last few Northern Lights originals, the exhibition will feature Chris’s signed limited edition prints and greetings cards. Copies of his ‘Northern Lights’ book will also be available to purchase and Chris will be present at the gallery on 5th May to personally sign these and chat to collectors.
