The Lord Nelson in York Village is now open and is providing outdoor table service and, looking ahead, will be opening its doors to indoor diners from Thursday 20th May.

“We can’t wait to welcome our customers back,” says landlord Darren Wilkinson, who runs the pub with his wife Angela. “There will be a limited menu when there is outdoor service only, but we will be back to a full menu when diners can come indoors. We are very much looking forward to it.”

Featuring traditional food, premium cask marque ales, the Lord Nelson is well known for its hearty, wholesome menu featuring popular classics that have been revised and refined.

Using locally sourced ingredients, diners can expect to see among the starters, black pudding and Lancashire cheese croquettes and delicious brie bonbons served with honey-roasted tomato chutney.

The main courses on the menu reflect the pub’s traditional roots, and classics include a roast with all the trimmings served on Sundays, beer battered haddock with chips and mushy peas along with an ultimately traditional mixed grill served with a Diane or peppercorn sauce.

The pub, which has three attractive en-suite B&B rooms, has an under-cover outside beer garden and a heated outdoor area with seating and a TV with BT Sport and Sky Sport: “The Euros start in June so we are expecting to be busy,” says Darren. “It’s a great space to watch a game and enjoy a pint outdoors.”

Dog friendly and with some great local walks in the Ribble Valley countryside, the Lord Nelson is open for outdoor service only and indoor service from Thursday 20th May
