Drone technology, attention to detail and competitive quotes, puts one Lancashire roofing company way ahead of the rest, writes Liz Walmsley
Finding the right roofing company can feel like a daunting prospect – with promises of quality and reliability amidst so many horror stories of fly-by-night companies and rip-off merchants.
Having been caught out previously with hidden costs and unexpected expenses, I’m pretty ‘switched on’ when it comes to sourcing tradespeople.
Seeking recommendations, doing my ‘homework’, and getting a few quotes before deciding who to work with, can be time consuming but is of course just good practice when undertaking any home improvements or repairs.
We’ve recently had to have our roof replaced and having gone through my due diligence, I contacted a few contractors, one of which was George Clarkson from Lancashire Roofing and Building, who subsequently came out to assess the work required.
One of the most innovative features of Lancashire Roofing’s service is their use of drone technology to provide a bird’s eye view of the roof in its current state, which given the location of our property would have been impossible to see from any other position other than from overhead. It was reassuring to see ‘real time’ exactly what remedial work would be necessary, without just taking someone’s word for this, and helpful when I received a comprehensive quote with a full description of the work to be carried out and breakdown of costs just a few days after George’s visit.
Unlike other companies I had contacted, their attention to detail and willingness to address all my queries instilled my confidence from the start. Having given the go ahead for the work to be carried out, we agreed a date for work to start and I was given an idea of how long it would take to complete the works. Once the scaffolding had been erected George and his highly skilled team arrived promptly on site and work commenced. Having removed all the original slates, it became apparent that the timber battens and membranes beneath had become rotten and would need replacing. Whilst this wouldn’t have been apparent on first inspection, the use of the drone footage at this stage clearly illustrated what George had explained to me. A revised quote was produced, giving details of the additional work required which I was more than happy to approve.
