Steven Grunshaw retired from 20 years’ service in the police on 1st October and opened Hound & Country with his wife Helen the very next day.
“We are lifelong dog lovers but began breeding successfully from our English Pointer Vinnie in 2016. We began boarding dogs and attending dog shows and fairs selling canine supplies and gifts and the positive feedback sparked the idea for a shop. When the unit became available on Fairfield Business Park everything fell into place!” Steven explains.
The stock and the service offered by Steven and Helen is bespoke and there is an array of top-quality products for dogs along with a free local delivery service.
The breed, size and age of your dog determines the food that Hound & Country recommend – and they keep in touch to ensure your dog is happy and healthy as a result of their recommendation: “Tailoring the food selection to the dog is an important step in maintaining health and we use our knowledge and experience to do this,” explains Helen.
Hound & Country keep a wide range of dog food in stock including Lily’s Kitchen, Royal Canin, Burns and Skinners but can also supply other brands.
“We are happy to supply any food customers need,” Steven says. “We have also launched our own range of dry dog food with pioneering pet nutrition company Golden Acres, using 100 per cent fresh ingredients, making it tasty for your pet while improving digestibility.”
Clothing and accessories to help you care for your dog are available in abundance including heritage wax and quilted coats in a range of sizes for small to large dogs along with high visibility collars and flashing bands to keep you and your pet safe this winter.
