Get Set For A Winning Performance

Young performers from Ella Shaw’s Academy of Arts are currently rehearsing for their next stage production, Fame Jr at the Grand in Clitheroe

The hugely successful Ribble Valley-based Ella Shaw’s Academy of Arts (ESAA) is set to present Fame Jr on stage at the Grand Clitheroe.

It will be another series of memorable performances from the talented team at the ‘dream, believe, achieve’ academy, which has doubled in size since singer songwriter Ella founded the dancing, singing and acting school, following her success on TV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

To meet demand Ella is rolling out more classes to accommodate an ever-growing waiting list – the new mid-week classes on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, will run alongside the Saturday classes that have put ESAA firmly on the map in terms of encouraging youngsters to gain confidence through the performing arts.

Last year’s production of Sister Act Jr drew comparisons to West End hits and received a standing ovation on the opening night. Fame Jr, which stars performers aged from four to 18, sees the characters find their true artistic voice and learn how to collaborate and work hard. “It’s very much a reflection of ESAA,” says Ella. “Our students are aspirational and many go on to study the performing arts at college and pursue it as a career.”

This year’s production is sponsored by the Northern Dough Co co-founder Amy Cheadle says: “Our children have attended the academy’s brilliant classes every Saturday for almost 18 months, and absolutely love them, so when Ella offered us the opportunity to support it, we jumped at the chance. We can’t wait to see the show!”

With the rising success of ESAA, Ella has also begun to form collaborations with local schools – she has a partnership with Ribblesdale in Clitheroe, which has integrated performing arts into the school timetable: “It’s a really successful collaboration, which I am hoping to roll out to other schools,” says Ella.

Three performances from Friday 28th to Saturday 29th June.
