If you want a country Christmas to remember with unique, authentic gifts and decorations look no further than So Plants – located in the heart of the rural Ribble Valley.

So Plants is run by Michelle Unsworth and her friendly team of horticulturalists and helpers, who are all experts in their field.

With a wide range of specialist hardy perennials, home grown on the farm as well as UK-sourced, and a lovely collection of luxurious, rustic gifts, So Plants began in a little shed located in a small field four years ago on the family’s Little Town Farm.

Today So Plants is part of the thriving Little Town community – with polytunnels and sheds featuring:
• Exquisite Christmas lighting by Noma
• Hand-crafted collectables by DCUK
• Unusual metal garden wind spinners
• Diffusers by Alura
• Plantable children’s books infused with herb seeds by Willsow
• Exclusive gardening tools by Kent & Stowe
• Seed bombs and seed cards by Emma Metcalf
• Ceramics by Gisella Graham
• Christmas trees (cut and pot-grown)

During lockdown the team at So Plants operated a home delivery service of plants and gardening equipment, that was so successful it continues to deliver within a five-mile radius.

“The people who we delivered to during lockdown have stayed with us so we are busier than ever, and growing more plants,” says Michelle.

As a one-stop-shop So Plants is unrivalled as there is the Little Town Café and Farm Shop on site: “Visitors can come to So Plants, visit the farm shop and café and they can even watch the cows being milked,” adds Michelle, who has recently expanded So Plants’ gardening tools and equipment provision – her favourite being the new Kent & Stowe ‘Capability Trowel’.

“This must be the gardening gift of the year!” she says of the stainless-steel trowel, which features a serrated edge for weeding and opening compost bags, a pointed tip and planting depth measure, a robust steel hammer on the end of the ash handle – plus it also has a 20-year guarantee.

Wandering through the gravel paths and little sheds is a real experience for visitors, who also love to meet So Plants’ friendly resident canines Fudge the Labrador and Melly the Springador.

Working in the polytunnel Michelle and the team hand-make thousands of Christmas wreaths, seasonal hanging baskets and beautifully filled garden tubs.

Visit So Plants today, meet Michelle and the team, and experience a truly unique destination!
