In The Frame

There’s no time like winter for showing up draughty windows and doors, but for one Preston couple, Creative UPVC came to the rescue writes Matthew Parkinson

There’s a pretty good chance that somewhere in your home you’ll have a picture or two. Whether they’re paintings or family photos, there’s also a good chance you spent a good while choosing a suitable frame to match the rest of the house’s decor.

Your windows however, have to do so much more. They’ll protect you from the elements, block noise out, and keep heat in – but there’s no reason why they shouldn’t look good too.

When it came to choosing new windows for their converted barn, Debbie and Rupert Kent chose Creative UPVC’s new Residence Collection of windows for their ability to match function with form, offering up a range of designs to suit both traditional and modern tastes.

Having heard horror stories from neighbours who’d had work done by other contractors, Rupert and Debbie were understandably meticulous in choosing a trader they could trust. “Given that we were spending a considerable sum of money, we wanted to make sure we were employing the right company so we did our research,” says Rupert, “from the initial consultation with Stuart to the finishing touches of the installation we couldn’t fault Creative UPVC.”

Rupert and Debbie were keen to complete the job in one fell swoop, swapping all the old windows and doors for new. “We were looking for some high-end windows that offered the appearance of traditional hardwood frames with the security and low maintenance of a modern composite construction with the added efficiency of triple glazing,” explains Rupert, “we also wanted all external doors replacing with modern, secure items.”

With such a big job, it’d be easy to get bogged down in the details, but Stuart was happy to step in and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each option available, even arranging for the manufacturers to visit Rupert and Debbie to demonstrate their latest products first-hand.

With the work agreed upon, the installation was completed by fitters Lee and Connor, who handled the removal of the old fittings unobtrusively and swiftly. That’s not to say the job was easy. Being an old barn, each of the 16 windows replaced was a different size, yet the installation was painless thanks to Lee and Connor’s eye for detail and pride in the fit and finish of their work.

Naturally, Rupert and Debbie are happy with the way the work has transformed their home, making it safer, warmer, and quieter. In fact, just about the only thing Creative UPVC can’t guarantee at this time of the year is the perfect day to gaze upon, but there’ll be no finer frame when that day comes.
