MAKING A DIFFERENCE

EVERY DAY

If you, or a family member, needs reliable, trustworthy care, especially in the current Covid-19 pandemic, Right at Home are the experts you can turn to for the highest quality support, writes Sarah Varley

For those who would like a bit of support living happily and independently at home, through to people with very complex or specialised conditions, Right at Home can provide the ideal solution.

Situated in the old Wilpshire Post Office on Whalley Road, Right at Home has established a reputation for going the extra mile to support their clients working closely with families and other healthcare professionals and keeping dignity and respect at the heart of their approach.

Right at Home [East Lancashire & Ribble Valley] is part of the Right at Home UK network, one of the UK’s leading homecare providers. After a successful career in accountancy and HR, owner and Managing Director Julie Foote established the first Right at Home office here in East Lancashire nine years ago, after seeing a dear friend struggling to find a quality care company the family could trust. She realised how outstanding quality care can really change the lives of not only the clients but their families too.

Julie’s deputy, Registered Manager Elsa Hastings, has been with the company since it opened and has a wealth of experience in social care. Both she and Julie agree that while establishing the business has taken a huge amount of hard work and dedication, the rewards that come from helping people for a living make it well worthwhile. Elsa says: “If you are shielding, the safest place is Right at Home! Our infection control procedures are strict in order to keep our clients and staff safe and so far none of our clients have had symptoms of coronavirus.”

All Right at Home staff undergo extensive training, including specialist courses for conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and most have been with the company for several years. Their services include physical assistance, all aspects of personal care including washing and dressing, medication reminders, meal preparation, shopping, housework, laundry, transport and accompanying clients to appointments or on trips out providing companionship.

Julie is a Dementia Champion and has planned a full programme of events for when shielding restrictions allow including dementia cinema trips.
As well as providing hourly homecare services, the company offers full time live-in care, a great alternative to moving into a care home. Live-in care enables clients to continue living in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of their own home with a care-giver available to assist them with their usual daily routine.

Live-in care means one of Right at Home’s professional and trusted care-givers will live with your loved one in their own home, allowing them to isolate safely whilst receiving the one-to-one personalised care and companionship they need, day or night.

For many families, particularly those living far away, live-in care is the best option for peace of mind that their loved one is safe and supported at home, particularly during the coronavirus outbreak, with movement restricted and social distancing in place.

“We are incredibly proud of our care teams and the vital role they play in supporting those who need us most in our local community,” Julie says. “Small things such as carers taking iPads and mobile phones to set up an internet chat with family members, can make such a difference. They are doing an exceptional job during these challenging times to keep clients safe, connected and supported in their own homes.”
