“We took the time during lockdown to finish the huge refurbishment we’ve been carrying out over the last 18 months and I think customers will be impressed when they arrive to see all the work we have done,” says Lucas.
“There’s a fresh new look right from the car park and throughout the showroom, from new signs, new lighting and another 10 to 12 displays.”
It’s clear that customers have been taking this time to improve their homes too. “We’ve had lots of purchases such as Legend outdoor heaters and Kamado Joe ceramic grills to enhance enjoyment of outdoor spaces at home,” Lucas says. “We’ve also been really busy helping people with their renovation plans for indoors too. I think instead of holidays this year, people are spending money on their homes.”
“The right fireplace adds another dimension to your home. We have been installing really beautiful fires and surrounds – including some false chimney breasts with three-sided fires which look amazing,” enthuses Lucas. “We’ve also been working with customers planning extensions. Right from the earliest stage we can work with architects’ drawings to plan where the gas supply needs to be for a gas fire or where the flue should go for a log burner.”

But the biggest news has to be the arrival of the newest member of the Canterbury Fireplaces team, Lucas and partner Tessa’s baby daughter! Lucas says: “Frances was born on 12th March so our parents and families got to meet her just before lockdown. I really enjoyed having that extra time together as a family – in such lovely weather too – and we really made the most of it.” Congratulations!
