Object of Desire

BLAZE

Created in cobalt blue and infused with 24ct gold, the showstopping Blaze cordless lamp from Alexander Joseph took six months to perfect and 22 attempts to get the size and shape right. It is the largest lamp body ever hand blown in the UK. The lampshade is covered in a specially crafted fine gold silk while the base, light fittings and lampshade ring are plated in 24ct gold.

Working with a team of British designers and artisan craftsmen, Mark Robinson developed the cordless, custom-made luxury lamps, featuring specialist patented battery cells for longer life. The ceramic and glass bodies are hand-made by master craftsmen in small workshops. In a nod to British quality and heritage, each lamp collection is named in honour of a renowned stately home, including Blenheim Palace, Buckingham Palace and Chatsworth.

Most lamps in the collections are priced from £1,300 to £2,500, with one-off designs starting from £16,000. Bespoke lamps such as the 24ct gold and blue Blaze are priced from £20,000.
