Sarah Varley catches up with Angela Kay to find out about her recent wedding!
In demand with clients across the area for her specialist microblading and laser hair removal, both in the main salon in Accrington and from her home in Brockhall Village, Angela Kay is well known within the beauty industry.
Having recently married Darren Griffin, Angela has many clients across Lancashire and Yorkshire and is happy to share the joy of their big day with Live Ribble Valley readers.
“We really enjoyed all the planning and everyone involved was fantastic. We wanted to keep everything as local as we could, as we really believe in supporting local businesses.”
The venue for the wedding was the beautiful Stanley House Hotel and Spa in Mellor, a Grade II listed manor house set within 54 acres of rolling Ribble Valley countryside.
“The whole Stanley House team were fantastic,” Angela says. “They couldn’t do enough for us and it really was a gorgeous setting. We had the whole place to ourselves and we were given a spa day as part of our wedding package as a gift from Stanley House so it was lovely to go back there a couple of weeks ago to relax and reminisce.”
Angela’s stunning lace gown was from Anne Whittaker Bridal Wear in Accrington and the gorgeous flowers were provided by The Flower Shop, Clitheroe, including Angela’s bouquet of gypsophila and Amnesia roses. Hair and make-up was perfectly done by friends from Exphairteze and The Glam Squad. Angela’s best friend Kristina sang as the happy couple signed the register.
Angela and Darren had a dusky pink and burgundy colour scheme – Darren wore a suit in a deep burgundy and Angela’s bridesmaids, her daughter, step-daughter and three close friends, were in dusky pink dresses. Going against tradition, Darren had five best men as he just couldn’t choose between them!
The couple also chose a travel theme for their wedding, including save-the-date boarding cards, passport-style invitations and tables named after destinations the couple have visited. “We love to travel and we’re really looking forward to going to Cambodia and Vietnam for our honeymoon later in the year. Our guests very kindly contributed to our honeymoon fund in lieu of gifts!”
The wedding photography was provided by Carlos Rania, and as Angela explains: “We didn’t have the best weather on the day, so we actually had another photo shoot a few weeks later when it was sunnier and this turned out to be a great idea.
“We got the chance to get all dressed up again and got some fabulous outdoor shots at Stanley House and in the countryside.”
The couple and their guests partied the night away to Alex Birtwell Wedding Entertainment’s live band and DJ before Darren and Angela headed off for a mini-moon in York.
