Travel Tips

It will soon be holiday season and it pays to be prepared when packing to make your journey that little bit easier, writes Tracy Hargreaves. So, we’ve put together some tips that will help you on your way

Documents holder
A documents holder comes in super handy, whether you are travelling alone or with a group. Having somewhere to store your essential documents is vital. You don’t want to hold everyone up because your ticket or boarding pass is at the bottom of your bag. Choose a bright colour and it definitely won’t get lost in your bag.

Portable charger
You may start your journey with a full battery on your phone but if you have a delay it might be hard to find a plug socket to charge it. Make sure you carry a battery phone charger as a back-up in your hand luggage. You never know when it will come in handy.

First aid kit
It’s always good to pack plasters and bite cream, wherever you go. You can either buy ready-made up first aid kits, or simply buy a clear plastic travel/make up bag and personalise your own with whatever you think you might need. The last thing you want to do on holiday is having to hunt down the local pharmacy, which may also prove expensive.

Socks and a light jumper
It might be scorchio at the airport, but planes can be chilly. Pack a light jumper and a pair of socks to keep you toasty. If nothing else, you will probably need them when you land back in the UK.

Travel pillow
Having a pillow on any journey is an essential. If you do manage to sleep on the plane or coach then it will ensure you are sleeping in the correct position, rather than all crumpled up, so you will feel more refreshed when you wake up.

Noise cancelling headphones
We’ve all been there when we are sat next to a young child who just won’t stop crying or the annoying person who won’t stop chitter chattering when you just want to relax. With noise cancelling headphones, not only will they help you to sleep but will cut out all background noise.

Portable toothbrush and toothpaste
An obvious choice, but many don’t carry them in their hand luggage. After a long journey you will feel much better if you have a fresh mouth and not greeting everyone with morning breath.

Hand sanitiser
With no water required and kills 99.9 per cent of germs, travel sized hand sanitiser is great for keeping in your bag or pocket. Not only does it help prevent stomach bugs and illness caused by poor hand hygiene, it is essential for when there are not hand washing facilities available.

Just thinking ahead for your journey and packing a few extra things might make your holiday experience, more pleasurable.
Happy holidays!
