What was a dated dining room and kitchen in a large family home has now been transformed into a gleaming super-stylish living space thanks to Heart of your Home Kitchens

Heart of your Home Kitchens was chosen by a professional Ribble Valley couple to create a stunning new open-plan living space in their large six-bedroom family home.

Jenny and her partner Nick, who have two young sons, moved into their new home last year and knew immediately that they would need to replace the kitchen, as Jenny explains: “The house was built around 20 years ago and it still had the original cream kitchen which was really dated.”

“We spoke to a number of kitchen companies and then one of my dad’s friends recommended Katie Green at Heart of your Home Kitchens as she had installed a kitchen for him. He said Katie was a great designer and really efficient, so we contacted her.”

The original kitchen and dining room in their Brockhall Village home was separated by a wall, which the couple knew would have to be knocked down to create the open-plan space they wanted. Jenny had also set her heart on a large central island and traditional Shaker-style cabinetry.

“Katie came out to see us to have a chat about our ideas – we were happy to be guided by her. After taking some measurements Katie came up with a design which really fitted our brief. She carefully listened and understood what we were trying to achieve.”

With the wall between the old kitchen and dining room demolished, the new kitchen is now in what was the former dining area, while the couple’s large farmhouse dining table is now in what was the original kitchen.

Jenny and Nick chose Mornington cabinetry from Heart of Your Home’s Second Nature collection, with the large central island in Harforth Blue which included an integrated wine cooler. Jenny also opted for a freestanding Belling range cooker featuring an overhead mantle designed by Katie. A large American style fridge freezer is also surrounded by a Harforth Blue unit while the rest of the cabinetry in the kitchen is in Partridge Grey with sparkling white quartz worktops.

Jenny chose industrial style pendant lighting above the island, while Katie commissioned expert tilers to work on the limestone coloured porcelain flooring.

“As we had to have the wall knocked down, we knew there was going to be some disruption. Katie was brilliant, she liaised with the builders and kept in touch every step of the way.”

“I had just had a baby, so I wanted the kitchen completed as soon as possible! Once the wall had gone Katie’s team worked quickly to create the new kitchen, utility and dining area. That was one of the reasons why we chose Heart of your Home Kitchens – we knew how efficient Katie is. She does exactly what she says she is going to do. We never had to chase her, she kept us constantly updated.”

“As a result, everything went really smoothly. She was fantastic!”

Today, Nick and Jenny’s kitchen has been transformed from two rooms that were totally outdated into a sparkling 21st century living space that works on every level for this busy couple and their young family.

“We love our new kitchen!” enthuses Jenny. “When we have friends round it means we can socialise while we cook. It works really well.”

Katie adds: “It was a pleasure to work alongside Jenny and her lovely new family. I have known Jenny for many years as I first met her at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School Sixth Form.

“We had lost touch over the years, so it was really great to be able to help her create her dream kitchen and reminisce about old times!”
