A FRIENDLY WELCOME AWAITS…

Famed for the warm welcome it extends to visitors, Pleasington Golf Club is one of the finest golf courses in the region, writes Tedd Walmsley

Whether you’re visiting the Ribble Valley on business or simply for pleasure we have a host of fine golf courses to test your game and give you a fabulous golfing experience. I’d like to introduce you to Pleasington Golf Club set in 142 acres of picturesque countryside – the course offers a unique challenge with a wonderful variety of holes. The 12 holes on the south side of the railway are set in mature parkland whilst the six on the north, offer a complete contrast with natural heathland, heather and turf presenting its own different challenges.

The course has seen continuous extensive investment in greens, drainage and bunkers and is always in immaculate condition. It is recognised as one of the finest inland courses in the North West and has seen many prestigious tournaments held at the club.

I love finding local courses that are welcoming to visitors, whether as a two-ball, a small group or a larger visiting party, the friendliness of the team at Pleasington shines from your very first contact. Visitors are welcomed Monday to Friday and a host of packages are available to suit individual and group needs. Off course there’s a great club house with traditional golf club fare and a good selection of ales and a decent wine list. I’d recommend starting and finishing your round in this great 19th hole!

Pleasington also boasts excellent practice facilities, retail opportunities and golf lessons with resident Pro Ged Fury, who spent many successful years on the European Tour and now dedicates his total attention to teaching the game he loves. The club has recently refurbished and created a well stocked shop with the very latest in clubs, clothing and accessories. Close to the 18th sees a great practice facility and driving range – perfect for the warm up and post match practice we all crave.

I love playing at Pleasington – it’s a real treat and great to see a progressive club where visitors are always welcome, the website is always updated with course news, open competitions and a booking facility. I’m sure that if you have the opportunity to visit this fine club you’ll enjoy every minute of your experience.
