ALL SET FOR A TERRIFIC DAY

The artists are registering, the sponsors are in place and the fringe programme is complete, it’s all systems go for Create Longridge 2019

Now in its fourth year, Create Longridge promises to be another huge success. Over 60 artists have already registered to create brand new artworks from scratch on one day. A first prize of £2000 sponsored by Raymond James Investment Services is available to the artists on Saturday 13th July. A variety of activities for children and adults has been finalised so that the whole community can get creative for the day. Hundreds of visitors are again expected, adding to the lively atmosphere in the town.

So how does Create Longridge shape up?

9th July – 13th July
An exhibition of paintings at Longridge Gallery by the artists who came first, second and third at Create Longridge 2018, respectively Adam Ralston, Andrew Farmer and John McCloskey.

13th July
8am: Artists have their boards and canvasses verified as being blank at the start of the day and have until 6pm to create brand new artworks within a three mile radius of the town centre. The Old Station Buildings will act as the hub for the day. Visitors’ maps plotting the artists’ locations will be available.

9:15am: The Create Longridge fringe programme begins and runs throughout the day at various times and venues. Activities include children’s art and pottery classes, urban art workshops with Longridge Community Arts, mural painting at Future Sound Music, a large-scale collaborative textile work led by Cath Reid and an adult Fauvist painting workshop led by Laura Dent.

6pm: Deadline for artwork to be submitted for judging at Longridge Conservative Club.

7:15pm: Announcement of winners.

14th July
Noon: Create Longridge 2019 exhibition begins at Longridge Gallery. The exhibition runs until 20th July.
