CREATE LONGRIDGE IS BACK!

Up to 80 artists are expected in Longridge creating brand new original artwork in one day within a three-mile radius of the town centre. The Create Longridge paintings will be judged at the end of the painting day by a panel of experts including the 2018 winner, Blackpool professional Adam Ralston

This year’s Create Longridge event will be held on Saturday 13th July. In line with the inclusive nature of the competition each artist will create their piece in a size, style and media of their choice. The artists are competing for their share of a prize fund totalling £3600. After the artists’ work has been judged, the paintings will be displayed for visitors to vote for their favourite in Longridge Gallery and will be available for purchase for a week after the event.

A lively fringe programme is also being held on the day. Art classes, pottery and a landscape painting workshop will be on offer for those aged five to 14 years. There will also be the opportunity for adults to try their hand at painting in a Fauvist style. The town’s textile enthusiasts have confirmed they will gather once again to create a large scale collaborative work.

“Create Longridge brings not only highly talented and creative people to the town, it attracts hundreds of residents and visitors. They in turn support our local businesses, the very reason Create Longridge was conceived. The enthusiasm for the event from local businesses is significant,” said Alistair Sheret of Longridge Gallery.

Raymond James Investment Services based in Longridge are sponsors of the first prize for the second year. “We are honoured to again be sponsoring such an amazing event, which fuses together the community, culture and picturesque town of Longridge all in a single event,” said Wayne Hayhurst, founder and Branch Principal of the business.
Kier Living are second prize sponsors.

“We are committed to building communities not just homes,” noted Carolyn Walsh, Sales and Marketing Director for Kier Living Northern.

“Create Longridge is an event that builds community pride and we are delighted to be associated with that.”

Local company Touchline Fabrications is third prize sponsor, building on its tremendous support of community initiatives across a range of sectors.
