As we approach the festive season, a trip to Holden Clough is all part of a magical Christmas experience! This time of year, the nursery is transformed into an awesome winter wonderland at the centre of which is the Glasshouse with its huge Christmas tree towering into the apex, abundantly dressed with huge glittering moons and stars.
A vintage Hungarian sleigh draped with beautiful, cosy throws is weighed down with gifts while decorative wreaths hang from the ceiling, continental-style ‘gingerbread’ houses line the wooden tables while the toy mice scamper!
Candle lanterns flicker and log fires burn – this is Christmas at it’s very best!
In the Botanical Room, golden deer roam among gold-themed baubles and decorations while in the Lecture Room there are gifts galore including winter-warming, hand-made knits.
Among the many artisan-made gifts at Holden Clough are Bath House products. Made sustainably in Cumbria, these include hand-poured soaps, beautiful fragrances and skincare.
You’ll find Christmas decorations everywhere, from natural woodland-themed baubles to glorious, glittering trinkets to hang on your tree.
In the Potting Shed where the wreath-making workshops take place, a fir canopy sets the woodland theme while in the Reading Room visitors can relax and reflect, take a quiet moment to jot down notes following your stroll around Holden Clough, or from the Reading Room café, enjoy a delicious, melted camembert croissant, sticky sausage snacks, feature sandwiches or a home-made slice of cake and a warming drink.
