Live Ribble Valley takes a look at ongoing fundraising projects that see thousands of pounds donated to good causes across the region

ST PATRICK’S DAY FUNDRAISER
Lancashire law firm Farleys has been holding its annual St Patrick’s Day fundraiser for more than 15 years. This year’s event saw more than 130 guests at the 1968 Lounge at Accrington Stanley Football Club. With all funds raised on the day to be donated to Cash for Kids Lancashire, guests were invited to enter the raffle or bid in the charity auction to win one of dozens of prizes donated by local businesses. These included concert and football tickets, signed sports memorabilia and vouchers for everything from local restaurants and wine bars to shops and hotels. Through the raffle and auction, £7,480 was raised and this will be topped up by the Farleys Foundation which will make an £8,700 donation to the charity.

YOUNG FARMERS
Clitheroe Young Farmers gathered at Foxfields Country Hotel to celebrate 80 years of the organisation, which is a youth charity for people aged from 10 to 26, living in rural areas, learning skills and having fun. There were 175 people at the event, including local MPs, with welcome drinks kindly sponsored by many Ribble Valley businesses. A three-course meal was followed by a series of speeches celebrating Clitheroe YFC presented by ex-chairmen, reflecting on the highlights of their time in office as well as recalling all the successful events – from the calf show to the Clitheroe Christmas tractor run. Over the last five years alone Clitheroe Young Farmers have raised over £20,000 for other charities. During the evening there was a presentation of awards to current members for their hard work over the last year, with trophies presented by the current club president.

GLITTERING BALL
Haydock Finance, specialists in supportive business finance, partnered with The Wish Centre as a headline sponsor for the ‘Wish Upon a Star’ fundraising ball held at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel which raised over £10,000 for the Blackburn-based charity, which helps and advises victims of domestic abuse.

The funds raised will play a vital role in providing support to over 3800 people each year, many of whom are often in crisis.

Rebekah Wilson of The Wish Centre said: “We are extremely thankful to Haydock Finance who do so much for our charity and the people we are supporting. Everyone had a wonderful time whilst raising funds that will provide a lifeline to someone in need.”
