Enjoy a Little Luxury

Guests and diners at one of the region’s leading country inns are thrilled to see the new innovative developments now available

Even through uncertain times the Cartford Inn is showing signs of ambition and evolution. The inn has a new menu in the restaurant, an on-site deli, a collection of luxurious rooms and, the latest addition, a series of greenhouses that have been scattered around the beautiful grounds, enabling diners to enjoy al-fresco style dining, whatever the weather.

“The idea came from a picture that a good friend sent us of a business in Amsterdam using greenhouses at the side of the canal for dining,” explains Patrick and Julie Beaume, who add that diners feel safe and it will also extend the al fresco dining season.

Renowned for its imaginative and delicious food, the Cartford Inn sources the best seasonal, local ingredients, making consistency their number one priority. The new menu, still features a mix of British pub classics, high-end French bistro dishes and other imaginative combinations. It is a tribute to head chef Chris Bury and a strong team of creative chefs.

The team at the inn has been very pro-active over the past few months, developing a number of innovative ideas like creating an online shop and introducing a takeaway service, TOTI at Home, from the on-site deli – an idea that has been such a success that it is being developed further.

“We are working on expanding the online shop and the branded products at TOTI – Taste of the Inn,” says Jeanie Beaume, who adds that the team are also developing the service so TOTI at home orders can be shipped anywhere in the country.

Currently under refurbishment to offer more space and safety, the on-site deli is due to re-open at the end of September. Supporting Jeanie Beaume, Julie and Patrick’s daughter, George Sharpe, another talented chef at the Cartford Inn, will reveal a new level of delicious patisseries, a new range of TOTI goods and an afternoon tea to die for, which will be available to dine in or to take-away.

They have seen a huge surge in interest in ‘staycation’ enquiries for its rooms and luxury cabins: “Our two luxury cabins overlooking the river are extremely popular,” says Julie. “A stay in one of those with dinner for two in one of the greenhouses has be the safest option around and a great experience too!”

With safety at the forefront of everything they do, not all bedrooms have re-opened in the main part of the inn in order to maintain physical distancing.

As one of the region’s best country inns, the Cartford Inn has won three Great British Pub Awards and numerous other hospitality awards and, in unprecedented times, the team has stepped up to the mark and displayed an agile ability to adapt and evolve, keeping the inn ahead of the industry.
