HAND MADE WITH LOVE

These designs are created in a London studio and are hand blown using precious metals resulting in truly unique pieces of art that are as functional as they are beautiful

Artist Laura Smith, of Laura Elizabeth Glass, creates all of her collections from hand-blown glass layers mixed with precious metals that result in distinctive patinas. Laura’s aesthetic draws upon her island roots from growing up in Bermuda’s vibrant colours and light. Working from her London studio, her designs reflect the interplay of nature and the man-made. Natural phenomena like advancing storms, cascading waterfalls and ocean swells are rendered in glass with a contemporary, ethereal glow.

Laura and her team have created lighting inspired by glass smoothed by the crashing sand and sea, softening interior and exterior glass surfaces with sandblasting and patinations of gold, silver, copper or verdigris to invoke dreamy ocean textures.

The multitude of textures and surfaces are also the inspiration behind the vessels created by Laura Elizabeth Glass.

The crashing effervescence of the tides, the metamorphosis from rain to ocean, the glinting sun reflected on a calm sea and the tell-tale traces of waves on a luminous pink sand beach find echoes here.

The team have also created a collection of contemporary handles designed to showcase the shimmering qualities of copper and glass. Each handle is hot cast and shaped to direct light toward the glimmering copper encased within the glass.
