HIDDEN TREASURE

If you enjoy mooching around looking for something out of the ordinary, take a trip to one of the many antique shops in the Ribble Valley and surrounding areas – you may just find a hidden treasure!

The Ribble Valley is statistically Lancashire’s wealthiest parish and this may go some way to explaining the treasure trove of antiques ranging from some of the biggest auction houses in the North West through to exciting Sunday market car boot sales, which literally attract thousands to their Clitheroe and Sawley locations.

If antiques and collectibles are your thing or you want to dodge the drops that occasionally fall on our beautiful valley, many of the 44 villages that make up the Ribble Valley have their own independent shops brimming with a complete range of items from just a few pounds all the way through to serious collectors items and works of art – and of course those lost treasures for which we all search!

Just beyond the Ribble Valley and particularly to the west we have seen small dealers group together to combine their specialisms under one roof, often utilising and redeveloping mills to house their eclectic offerings.

You’ll see some of these advertising in the following pages – they often open Sundays and combine food and drink with other things to see and do and are well worth a visit.

Drive time is no more than 30 minutes and I’m sure you’ll enjoy all of these experiences here in the Ribble Valley.
