Historic And Luxurious

Nestled within the sprawling grounds of Ribby Hall Village lies a collection of distinct ‘Signature Properties’, blending history with luxury

From The Farm House’s timeless charm to the Coach House’s rustic allure, each promises an unforgettable stay. And now, with newly renovated farm buildings on Browns Lane joining the collection, we take a look back at the origins of these properties.

Tucked away in the picturesque embrace of Wrea Green lies Browns Farm, a storied estate whose roots trace back centuries. Previously common land, great change came in the sixteenth century when much of the land was enclosed resulting in a patchwork of fields that still exists today.

By the eighteenth century, the Manor of Ribby with Wrea was in the possession of Alexander Rigby, a descendant of Colonel Alexander Rigby, who fought alongside Oliver Cromwell in the Civil War. It was at this time that a humble dwelling and some land was leased to James Brown and the history of Browns Farm begins.

Over the next 100 years, the farm and land were leased to many farming families with ownership changing hands to the trustees of Ribby with Wrea School as a method of earning an income to sustain the work of a charity to educate local children.

In 1871, the original dwelling was demolished and with the help of talented architect Henry Littler – the brains behind County Hall in Preston and Whittingham Hospital – the beautiful Farm House we know today took its current place.

Fast forward 150 years and in 2019 Ribby Hall Village took ownership of Browns Farm and work began to develop the existing buildings. The Farm House was the first to be beautifully renovated and most recently The Granary, The Dairy, The Stables, and The Hay Barn have all been sensitively rebuilt to be enjoyed by many families for years to come.

These new ‘Signature Properties’ are like love letters to Browns Farm’s history, blending old-world charm with modern comfort. Walking through the doors, greeted by a warm embrace of exposed beams and character, one thing is clear – Browns Farm has entered a new chapter in this timeless tale of renewal and rejuvenation.

Today, each of Ribby Hall’s ‘Signature Properties’ are available to book for large groups looking to make memories and relax with friends or family. Each property is complete with a private hot tub and boasts luxurious outdoor space.
