Preston Events To Wow The Crowds
This spring, it’s time to shake off the winter blues and join in with some exciting events in Preston, with fun for all the family
Preston’s 2024 event schedule kicks off in style with a themed event within the Market Hall. It will be an Easter extravaganza at Preston Markets on Saturday 30th March, with lots in store for all the family. Why not try your hand at the Alice in Wonderland themed treasure hunt, with a free prize for everyone who completes it? While hunting for clues on the stalls, keep your eyes peeled for amazing stilt-walkers, The Queen of Hearts and Alice in Wonderland herself, or maybe take a break and have your very own Tea Party at one of Preston’s welcoming cafes… you’ll soon be grinning like the Cheshire Cat.
Egg Rolling is a huge Easter tradition in Preston, stretching back more than 150 years. It takes place on Avenham and Miller Parks in the city centre every Easter Monday (1st April). Each year brings an eclectic mix of workshops, street theatre and live music. Past events have seen magicians, a giant hippopotamus, arts and crafts, unusual storytelling, explorers and much more.
Although every Easter brings a different programme of events, you can guarantee that the traditional Easter Bonnet making workshop and Easter Bonnet competition will always feature, with the best hats winning a prize.
However you choose to spend your day, no visit to Preston’s Egg Rolling is complete without bringing your own Easter egg and rolling it down the hill with hundreds of other people. You can find a quiet spot and roll with the family or join in with the official egg rolls on the hour.
It may sound a bit wacky and exciting, but that’s because it is! It definitely will be your most memorable Easter Monday excursion!
Preston’s annual Caribbean Carnival celebrates the rich heritage of the Caribbean communities across Preston and regularly attracts tens of thousands of people to the city each year to witness the flamboyant procession. People of all ages and communities join together to bring the city to life with an array of colours, spectacular costumes, live music and dancing that you just can’t help joining in with.
Preston Caribbean Carnival is gearing up for its 50th anniversary this year, so promises to be even bigger and better than ever before. Taking place at Moor Park over the late May Bank Holiday weekend, this year’s event will include live performances, sound systems, Caribbean and other food stalls plus a range of children’s activities. Join in the fun between 24th and 26th May.
