With its farm shop, tearoom, country store, home and gift lofts, outdoor play area and wildlife pond, Owd Barn is the perfect place to explore this summer – especially if you’re looking to keep your children occupied during the school holidays!

Set in a 16th Century barn and located in the picturesque village of Bispham, Owd Barn is just 30 minutes’ drive from central Preston and has been offering a warm family setting since 1990.

In the welcoming tearoom and ice cream parlour, children and adults are spoilt for choice with a range of traditional farmhouse homemade meals and tasty light bites for smaller appetites, starting at just £3.25. They also have a daily choice of cakes, traditional and speciality teas, coffee, hot chocolate and soft drinks as well as locally produced Fredericks ice cream. Take your pick from nine different flavours every day or you could always treat yourself to an ice cream sundae or milkshake.

Also really popular at Owd Barn is the rustic farmhouse style afternoon tea which includes a selection of sandwiches, savouries, a cup of soup, bucket of chips, selection of cakes and mini trifle. Inclusive of a pot of tea or cup of filter coffee, you’ll get all of this for just £12 per person (minimum of two). See the website for more information. Afternoon tea booking is required 48 hours in advance.

Next to the tearoom is a range of children’s toys including Siku and Britains’ farm toys, books and great value pocket money toys. If you’re looking for other gifts, the mezzanine floor upstairs offers a stunning range of homeware, jewellery, candles, clothing and other accessories. Popular at the moment are Powder sunglasses which all come in their own beautiful gift bags.

The farm shop on the ground floor is stocked with locally produced and homegrown goods including cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli grown on the family’s own 200-acre arable farm, which has been in the family for more than 200 years. After the warm weather earlier this summer, the crop has been tended to even more than usual with irrigation happening 24 hours a day. The cabbages alone are cut at 5am to avoid wilting – with this kind of dedication you can be assured of the best quality produce!

Outdoors at Owd Barn there’s a small children’s play area with picnic benches along with an abundant wildlife pond – all of this just adds to its unique setting and charm.

Owd Barn certainly has lots to offer for a great family day out in the beautiful west Lancashire countryside.
