The fabulous new-look Black Bull at Old Langho has a line-up of exciting initiatives that sees diners enjoying new dishes on the menu as well as a weekly Chef’s Special that is up and running now – giving the talented team in the kitchen the opportunity to show off their skills.

“The Chef’s Special gives each of our chefs the chance to express themselves with a signature dish that is sure to impress,” explains Rebecca Govier, who with husband Jamie, has brought the historic inn well and truly into the 21st century with an extensive refurbishment.

Serving classic British food with a distinctly modern twist, the Black Bull is open seven days a week from midday to 10pm, complying with current restrictions and with extensive, yet discreet, safety measures.

“We are encouraging diners to join us either for a long leisurely lunch – a lovely foodie afternoon, or in the evening, to book slightly earlier,” says Rebecca, who has also put in place an innovative take-out service for food and drink.

In classic packaging, take-outs can include most dishes from the menu, so if diners want to extend their evening, they can order a ‘cake-away’ dessert and bottle of wine to enjoy when they return home.

“We thought it would be a nice way of enabling diners to continue enjoying their evening.”

With Christmas on the horizon, the Black Bull, with its luxurious furniture and lighting and cosy wood burning stoves, is set to welcome visitors over the festive season with a Christmas menu that will feature dishes such as a five bird terrine and pan seared scallops among the starters and Goosnargh turkey as well as the renowned Goosnargh duck among the mains.

On New Year’s Eve there is a set menu with the likes of traditional haggis on the starter list and among the mains is fillet steak on the bone, a newly introduced dish on the weekly menu at the inn.

Also new on the day to day menu, created by talented chef John Dawson, is garlic and herb crusted loin of venison and a delicious fish pie!

First registered as a coaching house in 1555, the Black Bull has become the heart of Old Langho since it was refurbished earlier this year. The beautifully restored Fire Barn restaurant and the traditional bar has transformed the inn into one of the most popular eateries in the region and one of the most sought-after venues for events such as weddings and private dining.
