Shades of spring and summertime have been introduced at exclusive menswear store Scruples 1984, where all the latest collections are arriving.

It’s an exciting time for store manager Tom Orrell and Scruples 1984 founder Stephen Collins – and also for their discerning clientele, who expect the very best from each season.

And, as spring turns into summer they will not be disappointed, as Tom enthuses: “There are pops of bright colours as well as softer shades running throughout. From suiting to shirts, colour is everywhere and it’s putting everyone in a really great mood! The sunshine brings the best out of us and a good pop of colour suits the mood really well!”

From light beige, peach, pale blue and soft laurel green to brightly coloured garments and accessories, when you visit Scruples 1984 you’re sure to find something that catches the eye.

“Laurel green is strong this season, it’s represented across suiting and shirts in linen, cotton and fine wool,” explains Tom, who is delighted to announce that Scruples 1984 now offers international suiting label Canali, with its exclusive Italian cloths and designs: “It’s a real accolade for us to have Canali on board here at Scruples. Playing with soft new spring colours in shirting and florals is a great way to accessorise fabulous Canali suiting.”

Shirts from classic brand ETON often take centre stage with their stand-out colours and eye-catching designs. ETON’s print of the season focuses on lemons – with a flattering lemon print featuring hundreds of tiny lemons and green leaves in a beautiful, cool linen fabric. The print and colours are also repeated and reflected in accessories such as pocket handkerchiefs and ties.

Also from ETON, comes a series of playful florals in shades of spring pink, violet and orange – the perfect complement to smart suiting.

Speaking of which, Scruples 1984 has a good number of bespoke summer ‘one-offs’ from exclusive tailoring brand Loro Piana: “These are representative of what clients can have in their summer collection,” says Tom.

“We have had them made to showcase the fabrics and the quality of the tailoring. These are really exclusive garments – made as single pieces that can be mixed and matched. If customers come into the store and they like what they see, they can have these bespoke pieces made especially for them.”

Staying with summer suiting, there are a number of linen designs in soft pink and blue as well as a brighter green, from Scruples’ own in-house Italian label Rupert Totti along with a collection of accessories and leather belts.

Exploring the in-store casual collections, Scruples 1984 has Hand Picked Jeans, likened to Jacob Cohen denim – featuring fabulous lightweight, stretch denim in a beautiful palette of colours, which are great teamed with floral stand-out shirts by Guide London, Emanuel Berg and Claudio Lugli: “These come in fine cotton, stretch cotton and linen and they are perfect for a summer barbecue,” adds Tom, who has just overseen the delivery of – and made a further order of – exclusive Jeffery West footwear.

“They are in suede which softens the style for summer. They come in various shades including caramel, chocolate, navy and ‘yute’ – a really versatile colour.”

With international names such as Belstaff, MACKAGE, Paul and Shark, Parajumper and Vilebrequin all arriving in-store, it’s clear that the team at Scruples are looking forward to the new season ahead: “It’s a really exciting time of year for us,” says Tom.

“The colour in store is a real change – take the Vilebrequin collection. It’s really bright – and fun! We have swim shorts with vibrant patterns and the latest ones to arrive change when you dive into the sea! They are vibrant block colours when dry but when you go into the water a pattern appears – there is a fish design, crab and lobster and seahorse – they’re great and sure to be really popular as the summer holiday season approaches!”
